Project: Advancing Human Rights and Gender Equality through Community Mobilization for Empowerment

The Project “Advancing Human Rights and Gender Equality through Community Mobilization for Empowerment” is implemented by Ukrainian Women's Fund as part of the UN Women projects  in the east and funded by the Governments of Norway and Denmark, and Joint Programme of UN Women, UNDP, FAO and UNFPA on "EU Support to the East of Ukraine – Recovery, Peacebuilding and Governance" funded by the European Union.


Goal: Empower women facing intersectional discrimination through Community Mobilization for Empowerment (СМЕ) to improve their participation in recovery processes, increase the impact on community policy and decision making. Facilitate the dissemination of CME methodology in different regions of Ukraine.


Objectives:

-          Mobilized groups of women facing intersectional discrimination have received knowledge and skills for applying a human rights-based approach, gender equality and the Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs) to participate in decision-making at the regional and local levels, including local planning and budgeting.

-          The network of CSOs and women groups facing intersectional discrimination has strengthened advocacy skills to demand accountability for human rights and gender equality commitments at regional and local level.


Target Audience: Women and men in target communities facing intersectional discrimination

 

Donor: UN Women, European Union, Government of Denmark and Norway

 

Timeframe: 3 years, 2018-2021

 

Geographic Coverage: Donetsk Oblast (15 communities), Luhansk Oblast (16 communities), Zaporizhzhia Oblast (5 communities). Total: 36 communities
